The singer is famous for songs like Disco Dancer, Commando, Namak Halaal and many more.

Early Life of Alokesh Bappi Lahiri
The parents of Bappi Da were great Bengali singers. His father Sh. Aparesh Lahiri and mother Smt. Bansari Lahiri were originally from Jalpaiguri. The family held a great place in the classical music of the region.
Being a single child, he started learning the art of music from his parents, when he was just 3, he had started playing the Tabla. What comes as a great fact is that, enigmatic singer Kishore Kumar was also his relative.

Life in Mumbai
Bappi Lahiri arrived in the city of dreams, he was just 19 at that time. He had a debut with a Bengali film Daadu in the year 1974. His first Hindi film was Nanha Shikari, which was released in 1973.
The movie Zakhmee was the turning point in his life, in 1975 he was featured as a playback singer in the movie & songs were a hit.
He soon started directing music, his songs from the movie Chalte Chalte were highly applauded by masses around the nation. He was booming the Indian music industry with his hit movies like Wardat, Pyara Dushman, Sahhas and more.
When it came to Indian disco themed songs and movies, Bappi Lahiri & Mithun Chakraborty were going hand in hand. Bappi Lahiri is the first ever music director who is a recipient of the China Award.
Jimmy Jimmy song set the records on fire in the year 1980, the song became hugely popular in countries like Russia.
After 1990’s
He literally conquered the Indian music industry and movies and turned his attention towards other projects. After 90’s, Bappi da literally had disappeared from the Indian music industry. He tried to make a comeback with Prakash Mehra’s Dalal, Mithun Chakraborty was in a lead role.
The song Gutur Gutur was a huge success. He released various albums & remixes of his hit songs and produced an album called Bappi Magic.
Bappi Lahiri is considered a connoisseur of music in the country. In the year 2006, he was the main judge of Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs. He also featured his voice in the movie Golmaal 3 with his pet Disco Dancer song. It is widely known that he is fond of Gold, and can be seen wearing Gold ornaments with sunglasses in public. In 2004, he composed the background score for the movie Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara.
In 2006, he sung a famous song Boombai Nagariya for the movie Taxi Number 9211, the movie was directed by the duo Vishal-Shekhar.
He also had lent his voice for the movie Guru, the music for the same was composed by A. R. Rahman. His famous quote is that he’s a laid-back person & he likes to relax.

Family Life & Future Endeavours
Alokesh Bappi Lahiri got married to Chitrani in the year 1977. He has two children, his daughter Rema Lahiri is also a singer.
He is a singer with ravishing talents. He will always be the king of pop music in India.
