Do The Right Thing No Matter What and Let The People Get Offended!
“Don’t change your mind just because people are offended; change your mind if you’re wrong.” ― Criss Jami

We live in a world of technology. In today’s times, it has become really easy to express an opinion. Everyone has an opinion about everything. Social media has become a tool for the people to react to the other people openly.

With the advancement in technology, freedom of speech has been taken to just another level. Shaming and bullying is a common thing amongst the people around the world. People get offended by anything. With so many opinions floating around the internet, it is really easy to offend someone.

The smallest statement such as “I do not like tea” can be offensive to all the people who like tea. This, very small thing can create an outrage amongst people.

So, what does this mean? Does this mean that you should change your mind and start liking tea?

Well, I beg to differ. I think the best thing to do is be unfazed by people’s opinions and the fact that they raise objections.

Criss Jami ones said, “Don’t change your mind just because people are offended; change your mind if you’re wrong.”

If people get offended by the right thing you are doing or some opinion that you have, the best thing to do is ask yourself a very simple question- ‘Am I wrong?’.

If your answer to this question is- Yes I am wrong, then it’s time you change your mind. However, if you feel that you are doing the right thing, start ignoring the people who raise objections.

Your Opinion is Bigger than the People who Get Offended

No matter what you do or say, there is one or the other person that will get offended. This is because there are so many people out there connected to each other and there are so many people who have strong opinions about some things.

If you like eating meat, the vegetarians or the vegans will get offended. Similarly, if you do not like meat, the non-vegetarians will get offended. This series goes on. However, your decision of your food choices depends totally on you.

If you think that eating non-vegetarian food is not good for you, then you should not consume non-vegetarian food.

No matter how many people raise objections. If you do not think it is right thing, then ignore what the world thinks of it.

How to Ignore People who Get Offended

The best way to ignore the comments and the opinions of the people who get offended is to believe in yourself and your decisions.

As mentioned above, ask yourself some questions:

    • Am I wrong? or Am I doing the right thing?
    • Is my decision causing some real damage to someone?
    • Does my decision have an adverse consequence to it?
    • Is this decision benefiting me?
    • Is it worth it?

If all the answers to these questions are positive, do not hesitate or shy away from doing what you want to do. You cannot always keep everyone happy. The best thing is to keep one person happy, and that person is YOU!

In the end, I would like to say that if you are doing the right thing, no matter how many people raise objections or get offended, nothing should stop you from walking down your path. People always question brilliant decisions. This does not mean that they are all wrong.

Doing something different does not mean that you are doing a bad deed. Variety is the spice of life, and each human has the right to make their own decisions. So let no one stop you from being ‘YOU.’
