Failing In Originality Is Definitely Better Than Succeeding In Imitation
“It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.” ― Herman Melville

All of us in this world are trying to impress someone or the other. We all strive to showcase what we are, how we are, our talks and more. But is essential to keep in mind losing oneself to appease others is a failure.

Stay strong with your beliefs, if it is the truth! Changing oneself to impress others is not a right approach in life, whether it is in your career, with your life partner or even with acquaintance, just be yourself. Do not alter yourself when you find alterations.

Be what you are at all times and if people around you are not ready to accept, make an effort to understand the reason instead of changing yourselves for each one’s requirements. Thus it is said – “It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.”

Be Yourself

It is quite common to see copying other’s success story and editing it to make it your success. This temptation is not just seen with regard to careers but at every aspect of life. The society we live in gives every opportunity for individuals to copy others work and things, instead of finding the essence that dwell within themselves.

It is important to keep in mind, only unique and original things can survive, while imitations and fake things will fade away like snow in the sunshine. The whole point of being hard working, learning and understanding is lost when you decide to copy what others have done.

Have Your Own Style

Whether it is to simply get away with the outstanding works or if you just need to be at average level, imitating can be a temporary approach but it is not a solution. Also following others in their acts is not great, you should be able to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong and follow the style of other but not copy the work.

This is collected into few words by saying – “It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.” As a tip-try to avoid surfing or getting information of other’s works, this helps you to make use of your own brain to generate ideas. That is a fresh thought can be more impressive than the copied ones.

Don’t Go For Easy Solutions

Temptations can take control of our minds at all times, whether is to do a project or if we are writing a creative blog, there are lot of options readily available in online to check and create easily. But without physically and mentally putting the heart and mind to each work, there is no benefit for the individual.

An example for this situation: College’s assigns MBA projects to each student with the intention to encourage them to research about the topics to find problems, conduct studies and understand & propose solution. But when a student gets this project done from outsider, the essence is lost, there is no benefits reaped and at the same time he may even end up paying the outsider for getting his work done!

It doesn’t matter if your work succeeds or fails, you can be happy that it’s your work. Finding joy and getting reputation from others work is the biggest failure. It is good to read and understand the thoughts and ideas of others, but when it comes to execution, think out of the box and stay unique in your own way!

Also originality can be of a single person’s effort or of a group together; a combined effort of everyone together is still an original contribution and adds value throughout your life as it says thought – “It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.”
