Let’s just face it. It is not a pretty feeling to be scared. It is a mixed bag of insecurity, helplessness and incompetence. However confident and sure you are as a person, you will be scared of something or the other. We all have monsters we never want to encounter but that doesn’t stop situations from arising where we have to confront our fears and put up a brave face. In such a circumstance all we need to do is fake it till we make it. Sounds too shallow to be true? Well try it out for yourself then!

Be Superman

When I say that what I really mean is strike a power pose. Now if you don’t know what that is, you need to watch Amy Cuddy’s Ted Talk right now. It talks about how your body language can change how you feel about a certain situation. So stretching out and taking up space while standing or sitting will boost your self confidence immediately. Stand like superman and see your lost confidence find its way back into your body!

Deep Breath Meditation

You must have heard this and ignored it like a million times as it is old school and you have tried it a few times and it didn’t work. If so, you need to know that it does work and you are doing something wrong. Slow deep breaths are the solution to everything going on inside your body and mind. Feeling low, anxious, stressed out, confused? Just sit in the lotus position or any other way and inhale for two seconds and make sure you double your exhale. Each exhale should be longer as it lowers down your heart beat and de-stresses you.

Fake it when Scared

When you find it difficult to approach someone, do something or attempt a new thing, just fake confidence. This works so effectively that it might surprise you! Just let go of all doubts for a second and force yourself to do it. Put up a brave front and just go do it. Once you fake it outside, your brain starts believing that you are sure about the action. This leads to your body secreting a variety of happy hormones which gives you confidence to finish a task.

Remember the Universe is with You

Be a believer in the famous law of attraction. Know for a fact that you just have to ask for what you wish and then work towards it. There is a lot of power in your intentions and if you have proper clarity in what you want, you will get it. For example if you want to get a car, imagine what colour, brand, model you would like it to be. Go deep into the specificities and visualize its existence day in and day out. This helps in removing fear from the equation.

Think about the Journey not the Consequence

Don’t let yourself think too much about what will happen by the end of the process. Only concern yourself with the happiness you will get through the journey. The more we think about results, the easier it is to withdraw from the challenge. You will invariably convince yourself about the negatives of the situation and step out of it.

Think about the experience that you will miss if you don’t take the chance, think about how much you will not grow as a person if you don’t go for it. Think about it as a milestone in your life that can define your future. Also tell yourself how your life won’t end if you fail at it or make a fool of yourself.
