The Early Life of Koduru Ishwara Varaprasad Reddy
Born in an agricultural family, Dr. K. I. Varaprasad Reddy has done incredible and remarkable work in the field of biotechnology. He graduated with the degree in Engineering in Electronics and Communication from the Andhra University in the year 1970. After completing his basic education, Dr. K. I. Varaprasad Reddy went for a diploma from the Biblingen University in 1971. He pursued his degree in MBA from the Osmania University. The early life of Koduru Ishwara Varaprasad Reddy was spent studying and contemplating his love for the biotechnology.
Career
Being the electronics Engineer, Koduru worked in the field of defense as a scientist for about 8 years. After this, he worked with the APIDC (Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation) and then this elite personality had a chance of working with the Hyderabad Batteries Limited. This business venture was related to the production of batteries for the defense of the country. While he was working with these business ventures, his curiosity and inclination to do something in the field of biotechnology grew to a new level.
Koduru got the privilege to attend a conference of WHO that was held at Geneva. While attending the conference, he heard many comments about the country not being able to produce the Hepatitis B vaccine. He was perplexed after hearing the number of people we lose every year because of the deadly disease. This conference became the turning point in the life of Koduru. After returning to the country, this spectacular personality founded the Shantha Biotechnics Ltd in the year 1993. It was established with a motive to produce cost-efficient medicines that a common man could afford. The establishment of this organization was to make sure that common man in India will not die because of the lack of vaccines. Koduru is the managing director and the chief executive officer of the Shantha Biotechnics. He presently serves as the advisor of the RAS Life sciences Private Limited.
Koduru’s organization, the Shantha Biotechnics Limited was able to make the first vaccine for the Hepatitis B. In the year 1997, the organization launched the first vaccine, Shanvac-B for Hepatitis B in the country.
Awards Received by Dr. Koduru Reddy
Koduru has received many honors for his incredible and out-standing work. He was felicitated with the Padma Bhushan by the Government for his mind-blowing and life-saving discovery. This miraculous entrepreneur was also honored the doctorate by Sri Venkateshwara University.
Koduru is inclined towards yoga and music. He is funding many projects like the Annamayya Project for the enhancement of music. This elite personality has got many books published for music. The miraculous entrepreneur started a magazine project Haasam, which was started to keep the Telegu culture and traditions intact. But the project was closed in the year 2005.
Koduru started a new wave. He is an inspiration for many people. People respect him and look up to him for his contributions in the field of Engineering and science. Koduru by his research and hard work was able to give the country vaccine for a severe disease. He has made a place among the hearts of people.
