Do you wake up every morning, charged with energy and enthusiasm, ready to welcome the new day in your life, with all the charms and bounties it brings for you?
Or, you wake up grumbling and worried about the tasks and daily chores that you have to perform during the day? The latter is true for most, unless it is a holiday!
As we grow up, the gift of a new day doesn’t look as a present, but as a punishment that we have to go through. In contrast, look at a baby as he wakes up every morning, full of smiles and wonder at what fun the day will bring.
The Excess Baggage that We All Carry
As we grow up, we stop living, we start learning to just survive. Every day we keep adding to our baggage of problems in life, our feelings of dejections and disappointments, our failures and losses, and many more negative emotions. This baggage grows heavier by the day.
One fine day, it outweighs all our positive emotions, our zest for life. Once enthusiasm dries up inside us, we start merely start existing. Getting rid of this excess baggage is vital, for then only we can marvel at everything that happen around us.
Being like a child, who marvels at everything around, looks up in wonder at the myriad beauties of life.
What is Enthusiasm?
Enthusiasm comes from the Greek root, ‘en’ and ‘theos’, which literally mean, being with God or being possessed by God.
An enthusiastic person is literally possessed by God. Wonder and gratitude becomes his second nature. He marvels at everything that one takes for granted. He can see the bigger picture.
When you connect effortlessly with the vast universe, the trifles of life cease to bother you. You become your own guiding light. Enthusiasm can make any journey an adventure.
How to Cultivate Enthusiasm
Enthusiasm is not a pill that one can pop down and expect miracles. You have to shed your negative mental attitude, like a snake shedding his old skin. Introspect and think of the blessings you have. Often we take these for granted, and are aware about only those things we don’t have.
Look dispassionately around. You will find you have so many treasures within and around that others would die for. Develop a sense of gratitude for what you have. This will enable a sense of empowerment within you. Feel the positive energies that will turn your attitude to positivity.
You have been bestowed with so much abilities and power. Each new day comes with an opportunity for you to achieve what you aspire for. Leave your indelible mark on the day. The miracles are awaiting, make an effort with enthusiasm.
Take Up More Responsibilities
It may sound illogical at first. But the truth is, more responsibilities one takes up, more enthusiastic and empowered he becomes.
Look at anyone around you. If you find anyone who is successful with whatever he has done, however small the achievement may be, you will find a person who has taken up more responsibilities.
A vagabond has no responsibilities. A good worker in any organization is the one who has taken up responsibilities.
Responsibilities bring out the best in us. How? Because just as to exercise a muscle you need a weight to work against, to grow in life you need responsibilities.
Fill your heart with enthusiasm; take up new responsibilities and challenges, wear a positive attitude towards life and you will see the promise each new day brings to you. You will find life is a miracle that gives you the opportunity to become what you were meant to be.
It is rightly said, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
