Living an ordinary life only gets you by but living an extraordinary one will take you places beyond your wildest dreams. It has been experienced by those who took risks and embraced fear. But let’s not talk about fear or risks today.
Let’s talk about that one simple secret to living an extraordinary life: Growth.
It sounds simple enough but most of the time, it slips away in between the cracks of the daily humdrum. And this is why many people don’t grow out of their ordinary lives. Instead they would just stay stuck and settle.
Growth can be achieved in so many different ways. And when you break it down, you’ll soon find out that you can grow with ease and navigate your way out of your ordinary life towards an extraordinary one.
Let’s Begin by Saying ‘Yes’ to Living an Extraordinary Life
Don’t be overwhelmed by the statement above. By saying Yes, even in your heart, is already a step closer to growth. That yes doesn’t need to be for the big things in life. Start small, start from where you are but more importantly, start today.
Say yes to learning something new that arouses your curiosity. Say yes to meeting new people, even if they’re an extended friend in your circle. Say yes to that trial class your friend has been bugging you about. The list goes on, you get the idea.
You won’t know where and how these things will lead you but they’ll grow you in ways you’ll never expect. Never underestimate the ordinary for the extraordinary just because it didn’t feel or look like it’s worth your time and effort from the onset. Just say yes first and see how life will unfold for you.
Make Space to Grow into an Extraordinary Life
It’s time to de-clutter – mentally, physically and emotionally. Check in regularly with these fundamentals to see where you are. Your being in the present state determines how you will grow.
Is your mind filled with too much worry and made-up future events right now?
Have you been working out this week?
When was the last time you felt happy just because?
These are just some questions you can ask yourself. Your mental, physical and emotional well-being are important. Without them, you can’t possibly be geared properly for an extraordinary life. If one of them gives way, you’ll fall back to square one.
When it comes to your mind, take control of it. You have it in you to create the thoughts you want. It’s just a matter of flexing the good-thoughts muscle. Try this whenever you see yourself in a midst of a negative thought. For every time you think of a negative one, come up with 2 positive ones straightaway. Do this regularly and you’ll clear so much headspace!
Exercise enough to stay fit and fitter for an extraordinary life. You are after all a physical being and you have the responsibility to take care of your body if you want to experience all that life has to offer. Because having an ‘excess baggage’ is never a good idea for any journey.
Emotions make you human. But too much of negative ones weigh you down. Have you ever noticed that negative emotions somehow feel ‘heavy’ while positive ones are usually ‘light and easy’? Well, it’s pretty obvious that you should know which emotion to let go of and which to feel more of.
Now that you know what you can do to keep your mind, body and emotion well, you’ll soon begin to understand why these three need to be aligned in order for you to grow into the life you want. And it’s just a matter of daily conscious practice.
So always clear away that which does not serve you (mentally, physically and emotionally) to make space for more of what does.
Growth Paves the Way to an Extraordinary Life
You can only have growth when you’ve experienced life. There’s no hard and fast rule to getting there. It’s a succession of events, people, moments and achievements – big or small, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you know you have grown through each and every one of them in order for you to arrive at the life you want – an extraordinary one.
Are you ready? Because there is no better time than now.
