4 Different Ways We Are Destroying Planet Earth Without Even Realising
“Nature’s music is never over; her silences are pauses, not conclusions.” ― Mary Webb

All of us are busy complaining about how others are destroying the planet. We see a man walking on the road, littering around, and throwing plastic bags and bottles. We are quick to judge, but never think of our own actions.

Are we equally responsible for destroying planet Earth?

Mary Webb’s famous quote on nature, plants a serious thought in our mind. She says that nature’s music never gets over and the silences are just pauses, not conclusions.

Nature has a way of healing. There is deforestation and littering of rivers and lakes, but this does not stop Mother Nature from giving birth to new plants, trees, and water bodies.

Can you stop the river from flowing? Is it possible for you to stop trees and plants from growing? As we are aware, when an old house or any structure is abandoned, plants start growing from nowhere.

While Mother Nature will continue to sing and make her presence felt, we have to correct our actions. It’s time to judge ourselves and find out how we are destroying planet Earth without even realising.

Unravelling the 4 Ways We are Destroying Planet Earth

We have little control over natural disasters, but man-made disasters can come to an end if we take responsibility and not indulge in destructive activities. You may or may not have noticed it, but all of us are responsible for destroying the planet.

#1 The Aquatic Life is in Danger – All Thanks to Our Irresponsible Actions

We head to a beach in the best outfits. A few poses, and a couple of beers and sodas later, we head back to our hotel room. Most people discard their plastic soda bottles and glass beer bottles in the ocean/sea.

You may think it is alright to litter and the cleaner will fetch it, but the truth is that aquatic life is in danger. What if they consume glass or plastic?

Moreover, it is dangerous for fishermen, marine officers, and even the common man who heads to the sea/ocean for work.

#2 No Population Control

The trouble in India is that most people want a baby boy. Their thought process goes like this – if we have a baby boy, he will ensure that the parent’s future is secure. We need to give up the thought process that men are superior to women. Both are equal in many ways.

Considering the population is increasing, there is unequal distribution of resources. The planet has a dearth of water, food, shelter, and job opportunities. With population control, the resources will be distributed equally and the planet will be a better place to live.

#3 Cutting Down Trees Mindlessly

Whether it is the elitists or the downtrodden – everyone has their eyes on exquisite trees. They cut wood to burn it, make furniture, and even decorative items.

The reckless destruction causes major havoc in the society. What would happen if there were no trees on this planet? We would not be able to breathe easily.

In a nutshell, if all the trees are cut, you will have to wear an oxygen mask and the whole world will get sick. Moreover, destroying Planet Earth also means dying with it.

#4 Exploitative Farming Methodology

Farmers are not getting their dues, thus they start using the wrong kind of methods to grow more crops.

The exploitative farming methodologies are further destroying the planet, and we are actually eating chemical-induced vegetables and fruits.

People think that it is the elitists who exploit Mother Nature, but in a way, the downtrodden are also getting greedy and damaging their natural surroundings.

“The world needs a little more kindness in the heart to save Mother Nature from massive destruction.”

Let Us Do Our Part to Save the Planet

Afroz Shah, a lawyer from Mumbai and an ardent lover of the ocean, started a cleanliness drive in 2015 at Versova Beach. In 85 weeks, they were able to gather 5 million kg of garbage which literally changed the face of the beach.

There are a few super human beings who are trying to do their bit. Pamela Malhotra and Anil Malhotra spent 26 years building their own sanctuary. When they first entered the land, it was barren, but now they have a private sanctuary filled with trees.

People like Afroz Shah and Pamela/Anil Malhotra inspire others to put little effort into transforming the planet. Instead of complaining and blaming others, it is time to get up and do our part.

It is not just the factories that are destroying planet Earth, our daily actions like wastage of resources and exploiting Mother Nature is causing the little pauses.
